Participants needed for military family study

Crista Livecchi, a researcher in the Penn State Department of Geography, is looking for people raised in military families to participate in a study on residential mobility and home. An "Army brat" herself, Livecchi emphasizes the importance of bringing the experiences of military kids to the public. "We are born into service," she says, "and our experiences are often misunderstood by those who haven't lived the life."

Two groups of eligible participants are needed for this study:

  • A large group (40 people) who are able to talk by phone or Skype. These participants will be asked to complete a survey and answer interview questions about their experiences of moving and their ideas about home.
  • A small group (20 people) who are able to meet in-person (at the Penn State University Park campus). These participants will be asked to complete a survey, annotate a map of their residential history and answer interview questions about their experiences of moving and their ideas about home.

To be eligible, you must be between the ages of 18 and 22 and have lived with at least one parent who served active duty in the U.S. military (Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines) for at least 15 years of your life. Compensation will be provided for participation.

For more information or to enroll in the study, please contact Crista Livecchi at cml296@psu.edu or call 518-334-1667.
