This page contains instructions and helpful information. Please read it carefully. Thanks! - Lands in Transition has it's own navigation controls. To prevent confusion, when you advance to the next page, a new window will be opened that does not have Forward and Back buttons. You will be able to move through the site using the 'prev', 'next', and 'back' buttons that are found at the bottoms of pages. This instruction screen will remain in this window when the new window opens. - For best results, Lands in Transition requires either Netscape 4+ or Internet Explorer 4+ and the latest Quicktime plug-in (version 4.1.2). Here is a test page to see if your current browser is ready for Lands in Transition. Here are places you can download these software products if needed: - Lands in Transition is very media-intensive. If you are looking at this over a 28.8 kbps connection, you will probably find download times for the pages to be several minutes long. However, you may order a CD copy of Lands in Transition from the Forest Service by e-mailing Mark Johnson (mgjohnson@fs.fed.us). - Most of the pictures you see will have a magnifying glass in one corner. This means that you can click on that picture to see a larger version of it. You will then have to click on back to go back to the page you came from. - There are several movies. The controls for the movies
are below the movie. You can play the movie by clicking on - If you are having trouble with text running off the bottom of the background, make sure that you are not overriding control of the display font. Lands in Transition was designed to be displayed in 10 point Times New Roman font and may not look right if you have set your browser to use some other font all the time. - Enjoy, and please contact the Peter R. Gould Center for Geography Education and Outreach with any comments or questions. |
