Applying to the Penn State Department of Geography is a two-step process:
STEP ONE
Complete The Graduate School's online application form and indicate University Park campus under choice of campus.
Note: Current application fee information is provided here. The Department of Geography only accepts student for entry in the FALL SEMESTER.
STEP TWO
Apply to the Department of Geography by submitting the items listed below in one complete packet by Jan. 4, 2010, to:

- Departmental Application for Admission and Financial Assistance Application
- Two official copies of transcript(s) from each post-secondary institution attended to date.

- Statement of intent.
Must be at least one page. Discuss how you came to select your intended fields of specialization, and how your education is related to your professional objectives.
- Three letters of recommendation.
Please Note: We do not supply forms for these recommendations. Letters must be on formal letterhead paper and placed in a sealed, signed envelope.
- Official GRE Score Report - unless submitted directly to Penn State
- Official scores of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - unless submitted directly to Penn State
Required of all students from countries in which English is not the primary language. The Pennsylvania State University also requires that those students from non-English speaking countries who will have teaching assistant responsibilities take an on-campus oral test of English. The test will be administered after admission and arrival on campus.
