Dr. Etien Koua

Dr. Etien Koua joined the GeoVISTA Center as a Post Doctoral Scholar. For the last two years, Dr. Koua was a Senior Technical Advisor for Tulane University Payson Center for International Development and Technology Transfer under a Tulane/CDC project in Rwanda, and Acting Chief of the Information Technology and Applied Statistics Unit at the Treatment and Research AIDS center (TRAC) in Kigali, Rwanda. Dr. Koua's interests include information visualization and geovisualization, data mining, knowledge discovery in databases, computational methods for the exploration of large geospatial datasets, and usability and human-computer interaction. Dr. Koua will focus on GeoVISTA's GCCM and NCI projects, contributing to the development of geospatial applications for use in public health, crisis management, and other domains.
Dr. Koua holds a Ph.D. in Geoinformatics from the University of Utrecht and ITC in the Netherlands, and a M.S. in Instructional Systems and Technology from Twente University in the Netherlands.
