Overcoming America's climate change apathy: Audience research as a strategy


maibach.edEdward Maibach is a distinguished University Professor at George Mason
University, and the Director of Mason’s Center for Climate Change
Communication.

Maibach has three decades of experience as a public health communication and
social marketing practitioner & scholar. His current research focuses on
public engagement in climate change mitigation and adaptation, and he
currently co-chairs the Engagement & Communication Working Group of
the National Climate Assessment Development and Advisory Committee.
Maibach previously served as Associate Director of the National Cancer Institute,
Worldwide Director of Social Marketing at Porter Novelli, and Chairman of the
Board for Kidsave International. He earned his Ph.D. in communication at Stanford University
and his M.P.H. in health promotion at San Diego State University.
