Position description
Research assistant needed to gather and code archival news media documents on themes of agricultural development and corn (maize) production in the United States and Mexico.


Desired Qualifications
Candidates should have an interest in international development and feel comfortable working independently and reading and coding documents written entirely in Spanish. Familiarity with Mexico and with Mexican vernaculars a plus, as is previous coursework related to the politics of agriculture. Priority will be given to those with experience using the library’s online research tools including news databases.
Candidates must be willing to contribute 80 total hours of work toward the project over the semester, resulting in 2 credit hours applied to the transcript. There is no monetary stipend attached to this assistantship, although the experiences gained in this work will be immediately valuable when applying for graduate school or full-time employment.
