Project and position description

Understanding human movement patterns has profound applications including city planning, traffic scheduling, personalized recommendations, etc. With location-sharing apps become more and more popular, massive data become available for researchers to study large-scale human movement patterns at the individual level with high spatio-temporal resolutions. This position will assist in validating reconstructed mobility trajectories using spatial analysis techniques. Since the data volume is huge, programming skills to automate the task would be a key to performing the job.

Desired qualifications

The successful applicant should be proficient in ArcGIS or QGIS; possess good programming skills in R or Python; feel comfortable (or passionate) to work with big data; be a responsible, independent and active learner; and be willing and able to pick up new skills and concepts quickly.
