Office: 206A Walker Building
As the GeoVISTA Center Assistant, I help make GeoVISTA Center activities run smoothly. My primary responsibilities include coordinating travel arrangements, conference and workshop planning, grant preparation and reporting, writing and designing outreach materials, and purchasing items for Center members and staff. I also update and maintain the Center's Web site, which includes Web and graphic design.
In the coming year, I plan to re-design the entire GeoVISTA website, as well as create new pages for some of our new projects. I also hope to work with the Department of Geography's publicity coordinator to bring more attention to some of the GeoVISTA Center's research.
From 2003 to 2005, I worked at The Frost Entomological Museum at Penn State on two research projects. During the first project, I helped conduct a biodiversity survey of Fort Indiantown Gap National Guard Training Center in Annville, PA, and then, during the second project, I reviewed and critiqued research and management practices for an endangered butterfly that survives at the same military base. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, I was the assistant coordinator of the Field Veterinary Program at the Wildlife Conservation Society, based at the world-famous Bronx Zoo. In addition to these jobs, I have also completed two freelance Web and logo design assignments for non-profit groups. Samples of my work include: Pawws to Heal and Pennsylvania Invertebrate Biodiversity Project.
In 1998, I graduated with honors from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, with a bachelor's of science degree in biology and a bachelor's of arts degree in German. At Lycoming, I was a four-year member and officer in the Lycoming College Tour Choir, and had the opportunity to perform throughout the country and in Europe. After Lycoming, I earned a Certificate in Conservation Biology from Columbia University in New York City.
