Job Description:

As Research Staff at the GeoVISTA Center, I am involved in a wide array of research projects. It is my job to support various research projects as a software and web developer. These projects involve the cutting-edge of research into Geographic Information Science. I also maintain the GeoVISTA servers, the GeoVISTA domain, our code repository, prepare computers for student use, research hardware to purchase, and provide development on the GeoVISTA website.

Looking Ahead:

During the upcoming year, I will be heavily involved in our GCCM and NEVAC projects. I look to continue development on these projects and play an integral part in their success. I also plan to help GeoVISTA by giving demos of our software and attending conferences. My goal for the future is to play a large role in the future success of the GeoVISTA Center and explore the latest in GIS research.

I will also be teaching Geography 463 - Geographic Information Management in the Fall of 2008. This class will focus on RDBMS and SQL within geographic databases.

Cutting-edge research incorporating speech and gesture recognition into GIS applications
Consulting work using an Open-Source Java based GIS API
Consulting work advising a client on most aspects of GIS implementation
Development on an Open-Source Java based Ontologies creation and visualization tool
Work involves giving demos at national conferences, local conferences and to visitors of GeoVISTA and representing the Center in various other ways

Heavy development using ESRI's ArcIMS web mapping software
