Emily Domanico is a second year Master’s student in the Geography at Penn State University studying cartography. Emily holds a B.A. from University of California, Berkeley where she studied History of Art and Chemistry. After graduating, she started studying mapping and GIS while working on a utility audit and mapping for a driverless car company.
Her research focuses on map use in logistical and infrastructural spaces, specifically transit control centers. From the perspective of user-centered design, her thesis assesses the role of maps and schematic interfaces in the dynamic representation of real-time movement data.
