Harrison Cole is a postdoctoral scholar and Creative Director of the GeoGraphics Lab, which provides cartographic design, research, and production services. His dissertation research focused on the design, production, and evaluation of tactile maps for their use in flood mitigation planning by blind and low vision users. This research produced workflows for designing thematic tactile maps, and evaluated their capacity to foster collaboration between people with different level of visual perception during the hazard mitigation planning process.
Other research interests include biogeography, movement ecology, logistics, virtual and augmented reality, mixed media maps, early digital cartography, and geospatial visualization in landscape architecture.
