Hi, I’m Cary. I’m a master’s student in the Department of Geography at Penn State.
My research focuses on the design of maps and geovisualizations, and how cartographic design choices influence user judgement and decision-making.

Recently, I assisted Dr. Cindy Brewer in the development of the Scientific Program for ICC 2017. I also worked with Dr. Anthony Robinson on usability testing of the online web-mapping tool MapSieve.

My recent projects include designing interactive maps for composite indices of well-being, and assessing the influence of data-resonant color assignments on map efficacy and aesthetic value.
