Jenna Haver
I am a PhD student interested in the relationships between place, energy, and identity. My work examines how energy driven resource extraction (re)produces understandings of identity and meanings of place in Appalachia. I research how these understandings are articulated in tension with, or support of, political ideologies, energy transitions, and layered imaginaries and materialities of space.
Prior to arriving at Penn State, I received a master's degree in Geography and dual bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from the University of South Carolina. There, I worked as a graduate assistant to the South Carolina Geographic Alliance where I helped facilitate the growth of geography education in k-12 classrooms
