My name is Jessica Kromer. I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography, specifically in Dr. Luke Trusel’s Cryosphere & Climate Lab (CryoLab).
I earned my B.A. from California State University - Long Beach majoring in Geography and GIS. I earned my M.A. from California State University - Los Angeles majoring in Geography. For my master’s thesis research, I interned at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and used atmospheric reanalysis products and JPL’s Ice Sheet System Model (ISSM) to simulate how differences in surface mass balance derived using information from the reanalysis datasets impact the mass change of the Greenland Ice Sheet.
During my time as a graduate student at Penn State, I am interested in studying cryosphere system interactions in the Antarctic using satellite remote sensing and other observational and modeled climate datasets.
