Sooyoung Lim
I am a Ph.D. student in Geography at Pennsylvania State University, starting in August 2025. Before this, I obtained a Master's degree in Geography from Seoul National University (SNU). I got a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Development from the University of Arizona.
My research interests include GeoAI, GIScience, Spatial analysis, Big data, Spatial Optimization, Remote Sensing, and Transport Geography. Most of my work is based on GeoAI. I am currently conducting research on applying GeoAI to various fields such as spatial optimization. This includes developing a hybrid model that incorporates spatial context for urban facility location and using coverage location models to improve the spatial mismatch for dockless e-scooter parking zones. My recent work involves a spatiotemporal analysis of travel patterns for personal mobility in Seoul, utilizing an explainable machine learning approach. I have also conducted research on predicting rice yields in the Saemangeum reclaimed land using satellite imagery and deep learning.
