The field of MultiSector Dynamics (MSD) offers a perspective that bridges sectors and disciplines to identify dynamic and adaptive pathways for societal transitions. This talk will present the research vision set forth by the MSD Community of Practice, as well as some of our planned activities and ways to interact with the community more broadly. Convergent research is central to our research vision, bringing together concepts and methods from multiple research communities, expanding open science capacities, and leveraging revolutions in data and computing. MSD aims to support major societal transformations and goals by advancing complex adaptive human-Earth systems science through the development of tools and methods that help us trace the co-evolutionary pathways of human and Earth systems.

About the speaker
Antonia Hadjimichael is an interdisciplinary scientist studying complex human-Earth systems, specifically in the domain of water and planning under uncertainty. Her research sheds light on how human and Earth systems interact across scales, especially on how their interactions shape human impacts. Her toolkit includes many-objective evolutionary optimization, machine learning, visual analytics and high performance computing, among other methods. She holds a B.Sc. in mathematics from the University of Leicester, UK, a M.Sc. in environmental modeling from University College London (UCL), UK, and a Ph.D. in water science and technology from the University of Girona, Spain. She serves as Chair of Communications for the Society for Decision Making under Deep Uncertainty, in the Facilitation Team for the MultiSector Dynamics Community of Practice, and she has recently been elected to Penn State’s Water Council.
